CLIMATE

Temperatures do not vary much during the day, and tend to stay in the 22-25C range. Around 6PM, as the sun begins to set, temperatures will drop about 5 degrees. A light jacket or sweater is usually sufficient to fend off the chill of the night.

The rainy season affects all destinations of Guatemala. From mid May to mid October. You can expect to experience rainfalls starting in the late afternoon to early evening and lasting a couple of hours, but rarely lasting all day. Many people believe the rainy season can be the ideal time to travel in Guatemala as the whole countryside turns a lush green color.

DEPARTURE INFORMATION (AIRPORT)

Prepare your schedule for transportation to La Aurora International Airport.  You have to be at the airport three hours before your departure and add one more hour of travel time from Antigua Guatemala to Guatemala City.   If you need more information regarding our private transportation service, please send us an email to  info@posadaelantano.com

In Guatemala, there is a $30 USD / Q240 airport exit tax for all international flights leaving Guatemala.  (But most of the time this is already included in the price of your ticket).

There is also a Q20.00 or $3.00 (USD) airport tax for both domestic and international flights.    Both of these payments must be made in cash only in either US Dollars or Quetzales (local currency).  Travelers Checks and Credit Cards are NOT accepted.

Please always check twice before leaving a bus.

ATM AND EXCHANGE RATE                                                

The easiest way to get Quetzals is to use the ATM´s.  you can find them throughout Antigua, with the majority of them located around Parque Central.    We recommend these:  Banco G&T Continental and Banco Industrial.

At almost any bank, you can change cash or traveler´s cheks into Quetzals during office hours (9:00am - 6:00pm)
